vetextension.com is a Brain Child of Dr. Amandeep Singh which was started in July, 2017 and aims at providing the best and latest knowledge about Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Practices for sustainable livestock farming for better livelihoods throughout the world. Basic production practices, recent trends in animal rearing, value addition of animal products, better husbandry practices with special reference to climate change, healthcare tips, etc. will be thoroughly dealt with. In today’s world, linking farmers and dissemination of information through internet is soaring heights and vetextension.com is a humble beginning in the same direction. The author believes that the prosperity of nation relies on the prosperity of the farmers which solely depends on livestock for their daily needs and livelihood, hence the tagline “Prosperous Livestock Prosperous Nation”. Moreover, extending up to date knowledge from lab to land i.e. from scientists to farmers is basic theme of the portal, hence the name vet extension as extension aims at developing people by providing them right technology and knowledge at right time and right place.
vetextension.com is the first website on the internet providing information to farmers and veterinarians in multiple languages. Information is been provided in English, Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi keeping in view the information needs of the target users globally.
Dr. Amandeep Singh graduated in Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry from Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, Sher-E-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu, R.S. Pura, Jammu, Jammu & Kashmir, India. He pursued Master of Veterinary Science (MVSc) in Veterinary Extension Education from the premier ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. He is Registered Veterinary Practitioner under Jammu & Kashmir State Veterinary Council bearing registration number JKSVC-2247. Being from a farming background, he understands the fundamental needs of the farming community and the role of livestock in agrarian society, hence started this portal to cater needs of the rural people involved in livestock rearing by providing information about the same in their hands and pockets all the time through their mobile phones and computers.
